Windows 11: the task manager has an Eco mode for low-power PCs

Windows 11 offers a new task manager. If this one is similar to the one we already had on Windows 10, it offers some additional features as well as a revised design. In a future update, it will allow the user manage very precisely its Edge browser.

Indeed, Insiders who downloaded build 22000.282 may have noticed some changes in this program. regarding the Edge browser. By opening it (with a good old control alt supp), the task manager (or task manager) allows you to see the software in use. Regarding Edge, it is possible to have more details by clicking on the small arrow next to the name.

On Windows 10, we only had a list of open tabs, without any of them named. With Windows 11, you see the name of the tabs as well as what they consume on your PC. Those opened in private browsing are always displayed with a generic name. We can also see what the GPU processor is consuming and also the extensions and plugins.

For the moment, Windows 11 users do not have access to this novelty, since it is reserved for Insiders. It is not known if other browsers will benefit from it in the future, but it is not impossible. Google Chrome, for example, works the same way as Edge. Either way, this feature should happen in the next weeks (if all goes well) for all users.

On top of that, Microsoft is reportedly working on an Eco mode for the task manager. Enabled, it will reduce the process of the most demanding software if not in use. At the moment, this mode is not even available for Insiders and it could happen. only at the end of the year or at the beginning of the year 2022.
