Big news from the royal family! Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton are getting ready for a big change. Their upcoming move means a fresh start for the couple and their kids. They are heading to a new home in the Windsor Great Park.
The new royal residence is called Forest Lodge. It’s a grand mansion built way back in the 1770s. The house features eight bedrooms and six bathrooms. Imagine a ballroom lit by chandeliers, a private tennis court, and even a pond. The property also boasts beautiful Venetian windows and sprawling gardens. Reports from the Daily Mail say new shrubs and privacy screens are already in place. This is all to prepare for the family’s arrival.
Now, here’s a part of the story that caused some chatter. The Daily Mail reported that two families living near Forest Lodge had to leave their homes. The newspaper suggested these families weren’t expecting to move. However, Us Weekly shared a different side of the story. They learned that no eviction notices were given. Instead, the tenants moved to similar or even better homes. All of them stayed on properties owned by the Crown. These families were first asked to relocate "early this summer." They have since left their previous homes.
This move is a big step for William, who is 43, and Kate, also 43. Their three children, Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (9), and Prince Louis (6), will move with them. The family has been living at Adelaide Cottage for the past three years. A Kensington Palace spokesperson confirmed to Us Weekly that the Wales family will move house later this year.
A royal source told The Sun that William and Kate hope this move brings a "new beginning." This comes after Kate’s health journey. She was diagnosed with cancer and went through treatment. She is now in remission.
Kate is slowly getting back to her public duties. She made appearances at the Wimbledon tennis tournament this summer. She also attended the annual Trooping the Color parade. These events mark her gradual return to work.
Kate stepped away from her public role last year. She announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024. She completed chemotherapy in September 2024. She was in remission at the start of this year. Kate shared an Instagram post with her followers on January 14. She thanked her medical team and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. She praised them for taking "such good care of me over the past year." Her post also said, "It is a relief to now be in remission. And I remain focused on recovery. As anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis will know, adjusting to a new normal takes time."
