Willi Castro homered twice in the same game for the first time in his career, Matt Wallner homered for a career-high four hits, and the Minnesota Twins held on to beat the Minnesota Twins 9-7 on Saturday. Toronto Blue Jays.
Edouard Julien also homered on a three-hit day, while Alex Kiriloff and Kyle Farmer had two of Minnesota’s 14 hits.
Bo Bichette had three hits, including a homer for the second straight game, but the Blue Jays lost for the 10th time in 13 games. Daulton Varsho also hit a four-corner drive.
Castro and Wallner hit back-to-back homers for Minnesota in the fifth inning to make it 7-4.
Venezuelan starter Pablo Lopez (3-3) allowed four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings for the win. Brock Stewart earned his first save since June 20, 2017.
The loss went to Chris Bassitt (5-4).
For the Blue Jays, the Dominican Vladimir Guerrero 5-1. The Mexican Alejandro Kirk from 2-1.
For the Twins, Castro went 4-2 with three runs scored and three produced.
