Will Rohit Sharma’s captaincy end in the white-ball format? BCCI can make a big decision

The Indian cricket team captained by Rohit Sharma suffered a defeat against Australia in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, previously, Team India had not lost a single game in the tournament. After the defeat in the World Cup, Rohit Sharma’s captaincy can now be lost in white-ball cricket i.e. limited-overs cricket. According to reports, the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar will discuss the captaincy of the Whites with Rohit Sharma.

According to the Times of India report, Rohit Sharma has already told voters that he should be kept away from the T20 format. The source said, “Before the World Cup, Rohit Sharma had said that he had no problem with him not being considered for the T20Is. The selectors have invested a lot in T20 International youth over the last year. “We want to stick to this strategy for the T20 World Cup in June next year.”

Since he was not considered in T20, the selectors can now talk to Rohit about the captaincy in the ODI format. In such a situation, Rohit Sharma can only focus on the Test format. He can lead the test until the next cycle of the World Test Championship, i.e. 2025.

The source further told Times of India: “Now it seems Rohit Sharma will focus more on Tests for the next World Test Championship, which will run until 2025.” Preparing a new captain for the longer format will be an important part be this agenda. “In view of Hardik Pandya’s injury, the selectors may look for a new option in ODIs.”

We tell you that Rohit Sharma has lost a total of three ICC tournaments under his captaincy so far. Although he won the 2023 Asian Cup title. But as captain, Rohit lost the T20 World Cup 2022, the final of the World Test Championship 2023 and 2023.
