LONDON: WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has tied the knot with his girlfriend Stella Morris in jail.
According to foreign media, a short ceremony was held in the high security prison for the wedding of Julian Assange and Stella Morris, which was attended by two prison officials and two guards.
Stella Morris cut the wedding cake outside the jail and told the media: “I am both happy and sad at the same time. I love Julien for the day.
Julian Assange and Stella Morris have two children, dating back to 2015. Morris wore a wedding dress to the prison wedding, embroidered with the words “brave”, “tireless” and “free love”.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been serving a decade in prison for leaking US military records and diplomatic secrets.
Julian Assange, 50, has been in prison in south-east London since 2019. Earlier, the convict was detained at the Ecuadorian embassy for seven years.
The United States has demanded the extradition of Julian Assange for leaking national secrets in 2010 and 2011.
Prison inmates have the right to apply for marriage in prison under the British Marriage Act 1983, but the applicant must be able to bear all the costs of the marriage.
