West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has said that the decision of South Africa’s star hitter and goalkeeper Quinton de Kock to withdraw from the T20 World Cup match after refusing to kneel in support of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ campaign ‘came as’ news’ for he had come and had appealed to people not to speculate on this issue.

Pollard said he is personally and as a team for the campaign and will continue to contribute to ending racism.

“Personally, I don’t know of any player who doesn’t want to do that (kneel),” Pollard said after his second straight eight-wicket loss to South Africa in the Super 12 stage. I don’t know. So it was like news to me.

He said: “You know our opinions on this matter. We are in favor of this as a team and also as individuals and we will continue to do so.”
