On September 14, a Thursday, at 11 a.m., the nationwide warning day will take place again. This is reported by the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK). On this day, the federal, state and local governments test the functionality of their warning systems. Since the disastrous failure of the warning functions on the warning day on September 10, 2020, as a result of which even the head of the BBK had to resign, the warning systems in Germany have again been in the public eye.
The nationwide warning day is intended to check the functionality of the different warning systems. The warning day also serves to inform the population about the different warning devices.
These warning devices will be tested on September 14, 2023 at 11 a.m
If the BBK sends its test warning in the form of a warning text to all systems connected to the “modular warning system” on the day of the warning, this warning is passed on to the population in different ways.
At around 11.45 a.m. the all-clear is given via all warning devices and end devices through which the warning was previously sent. With one exception: the all-clear has not yet been sent via cell broadcast. The mobile network operators are currently examining whether they can also send an all-clear for cell broadcasts.
Reading Tips:
Regardless of the nationwide warning day, there are also warning days limited to individual federal states: That is why all mobile phones are only ringing in these two federal states.
