Why does Suryakumar Yadav not fit in ODI format? The former coach gave the big reason

India recently announced the team for the 2023 World Cup. It also includes Suryakumar Yadav. Surya is also in the Asia Cup 2023 team. He has not been able to do anything special in the ODI format so far. Nevertheless, the selection committee and the captain were confident. Former Team India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has reacted regarding Surya. He explained where Surya needs improvement in the ODIs.

Bangar says sixes and fours aren’t easy to hit in the middle overs. According to a message from India Today, Bangar said: “The biggest thing is that in the middle of the inning it’s not easy to draw boundaries.” It’s not easy to hit sixes and fours when three or four wickets are down. In the T20 format, the ball remains stable throughout the inning. But in the last over of the ODI, the ball goes soft. Therefore, the border is not easy to find.

He said, “Every batsman has to find a formula to make runs.” Suryakumar Yadav is a versatile player. He’s definitely trying to push boundaries. He knows very well where to strike. But if improvement is needed, it’s hitting between the 25th and 40th over. I don’t think they’re ready to start making runs at this time.

Significantly, Surya has played 26 ODIs to date. 511 runs were scored. In that time, he could only score two and a half centuries. Surya’s best ODI score for India is 64 runs. At the same time, he has scored 1,841 runs in 53 T20 games for Team India. Has three centuries and 15 half centuries set to music in this format. His best score in this format is 117 runs.
