Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen are one of Bollywood’s good friends, but very few people would know that these two didn’t like each other before. Not only this, Sushmita Sen did not want to work with Salman on screen, the reason for this was revealed by Salman Khan during one of his interviews.
Salman Khan in an interview recalled his first meeting with Sushmita Sen, with whom he has worked on several films. In an old video message, Salman is shown revealing that Sushmita Sen was very rude to him at their first meeting. Elaborating on the incident, Salman said that he kept Sushmita waiting on the sets of David Dhawan’s ‘Biwi No.1’. When he arrived two hours late and introduced himself to Sushmita, she did not answer him well. This video message from Salman was shown in an old episode of the show ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’ which was hosted by the late actor Farooq Sheikh and Sushmita was present in it as a guest.
Sharing one of his memorable anecdotes about Sushmita, Salman said, “One day, the first day of filming, I came to the set late at 11 am. Sushmita Sen was there from 9 am. It was the first time I met Sushmita. and as soon as I met him I was like, ‘Hello, how are you Sush?’ And she just waved and walked away humming.
Salman Khan further said: ‘So I turned and asked David Dhawan: ‘What’s your problem, man? Why is he giving me attitude?’ He says, ‘She’s here ready with makeup since 9 o’clock.’ I mean, she had to get up at 7 o’clock. I said. ‘That’s not my problem. I told you I would come around 11-11:30. That was our first meeting.
Salman Khan further told how his friendship with Sushmita began. What quality of the actress impressed him. Salman said: ‘Something I really like about Sushmita is that she has a big heart. I remember when we were shooting ‘Biwi No. 1’ in Miami, she rented a limo herself and took all her staff to a nightclub. She ordered the best champagne and the best food there. The entire film crew was very happy with all these things. Right after this, the idea of Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen completely changed for each other and both of them became good friends.
