Without naming Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film Animal, Javed said the film's success was dangerous and said, “If a film in which a man says to a woman, 'You lick my shoes', if a man says, “That woman.” What harm does it do to slap a film? “It’s very dangerous if this film becomes a superhit.”

In fact, Javed Akhtar spoke about the film's lead character's mindset towards women in Animal. The scene he remembered was shot between Trupti Dhimri and Ranbir Kapoor.
