Aamir Khan is called Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist. This Bollywood superstar has starred in many blockbuster movies though the actor’s last released film ‘Lal Singh Chadha’ was a flop. Since then he has taken a long break from movies. In the midst of all this, the actor had spoken about his relationship with his ex-wife Kiran Rao during an interview. He called his relationship with Kiran unique. The couple, who separated two years ago after 15 years of marriage, still respect each other highly.
Aamir Khan divorced his first wife Reena Dutta in 2002. Following this, in the year 2005, Mr. Perfectionist married Kiran. While giving an interview to News 18, the actor said that there was a definite change in his relationship with Kiran, which is why the decision to separate from him began. Aamir had said: “Kiran and I are really family. But there was a significant change in our relationship as husband and wife, and we wanted to respect the institution of marriage. However, we will always be by each other’s side. We worked together, we lived close. But we were no longer husband and wife and so we decided to separate.”
During the interview, Aamir Khan also revealed that contrary to reports, “When Reena and I broke up, there was no one in my life. Many people think that Kiran and I met before Reena’s divorce but this is not true. Kiran and I knew each other, but we didn’t really know each other and we became friends much later. He also clarified that his relationship with Kiran didn’t end because of someone else. “There were none then, there are none now.”
He further said that due to mutual respect and love and the institution of marriage, they both made a great decision. He said: “I understand that people don’t understand our equation. It’s hard for people to understand. It’s because we don’t usually see this kind of link.”
Aamir and Kiron have a son, Azad Rao Khan. Azad was born via surrogacy in 2011. Aamir, however, had said that there had been a change in their relationship and they had talked about it several times. Where Kiran used to tell him, “When we discuss something as a family, I always get lost somewhere.” She considers me “a different kind of person.” Aamir also confessed that Kiron used to tell him that she loved her “mind and personality”. So she was against her changing anything to save our marriage. But today, when I look at what Kiran said seven years ago, I say that in the last 6-7 months, I have seen a lot of changes in me.
Aamir also shared that he has been lucky in terms of women in his life. Pointing to his first partner, Reena Dutta, he said this. Reena and Amiri have a daughter Ira and a son Junaid. Reena was also a producer on many of Aamir’s films, including Lagaan.
