The Indian cricket team will tour South Africa starting December for a series of all three formats for which BCCI has announced the teams. Regular captain Rohit Sharma and batsman Virat Kohli were not included in the squad for the tour’s ODI and T20 series. BCCI gave the reason for both legends not participating in ODI and T20.
Rohit and Kohli are part of the Test series squad. Rohit Sharma will take charge of the Test team. Apart from this, the team’s star fast bowler Mohammed Shami is also not part of the ODI and T20 series. KL Rahul will lead India in the ODI and Suryakumar Yadav in the T20 series. However, while Shami has been included in the Test squad, his availability is not certain.
In fact, an update on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from BCCI said, “Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have requested the board to take a break from the white-ball phase of the tour (ODI and T20 series).”
Furthermore, it said about Mohammed Shami: “Mohammed Shami is currently undergoing medical treatment and his availability depends on his fitness.”
