With the onset of winter in the United States, clocks have been pushed back one hour. However, a majority of Americans have expressed disapproval of the move.

According to the Associated Press, the time has been postponed by one hour from 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 7 in most of the US states, with the end of the light saving campaign and the arrival of winter has been announced. Most Americans set their clocks back an hour before going to bed on Saturday night.

The first idea to change the time came to Benjamin Franklin, an inventor, in 1784, when he said that waking up an hour earlier in summer would allow you to use the light longer. This idea was accepted and many countries of the world considered this proposal as appropriate and introduced it in their own countries.

In a recent survey conducted in the United States, many Americans said that they do not like to move their clocks back and forth twice a year.

A recent survey by the Associated Press found that only 25 percent of Americans like to reduce their day and night time. Forty-three percent of Americans say they like to spend their days and nights at the same time of year. 32% want the whole year to be the same time in summer as daylight saving time.

It is also worth mentioning here that almost all the countries of the world, including Iran, Turkey, Egypt and many Islamic countries, including Syria, spend their time back and forth to take advantage of daylight.

Pakistan

It should be noted that for the first time in Pakistan, the idea of going back and forth to take advantage of sunlight originated in 1994, when the PPP was in power, and in April 2002, under former President Pervez Musharraf. It was decided to move an hour ahead but it could not be implemented later.

United Kingdom

This is also the case in the UK where clocks are moved one hour forward in the last week of March and one hour back in the last week of October.

The reason for the one hour back and forth time in the UK is stated to be that there is a huge difference between the times of sunrise and sunset during the year and in winter when the sun starts to rise very late. Offices and schools start at exactly the last part of the night, as office and school hours usually start at eight o’clock, so the clocks are set back one hour so that the bell rings eight hours late. And no need to change school and office hours. It is as if in winter there are eight instead of their old time at nine o’clock and in summer they go back and start ringing at old time.
