The Afghan embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, has demanded that Interpol arrest former President Ashraf Ghani, Afghan national security adviser Hamdullah Mohib and the head of presidential affairs, according to details.
The Afghan embassy in Tajikistan also removed a photo of Ashraf Ghani and replaced it with a photo of former Vice President Amrullah Saleh.
“According to the constitution, the senior vice president becomes in charge in the absence, departure or death of the president, and Amrullah Saleh is currently the interim president,” said Mohammad Zahir Aghbar, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Tajikistan.
It should be noted that the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed Ashraf Ghani’s asylum.
A short statement issued by the UAE Foreign Ministry said that Ashraf Ghani and his family were protected on humanitarian grounds.
It should be noted that Ashraf Ghani had resigned following the occupation of Kabul by the Afghan Taliban. Immediately after his resignation, news of his escape from Tajikistan came to light.
