Who should finish fourth at the 2023 ODI World Cup? Shikhar Dhawan announced his choice

As with the last World Cup, the biggest question this time around is who will line up fourth for Team India. Many batsmen have struggled for the position over the last four years but with Shreyas Iyer not quite fit the issue again gave Indian management and captain Rohit Sharma a headache.

Vijay Shankar was selected fourth for the last World Championship which was a complete flop. Many batsmen have played under this number since then. Shreyas Iyer did well in fourth but he is still injured and is leaving Team India. If Iyer isn’t fit in a situation like that, then who’s going to bat in fourth place is the biggest question. Meanwhile, Team India’s senior opener Shikhar Dhawan has announced his first choice for the number four.

Shikhar Dhawan, who is eliminated from the Indian team, thinks Suryakumar Yadav should have a shot at fourth if Shreyas Iyer isn’t quite fit. He believes only an experienced player like Suryakumar can handle the role.

Speaking to PTI news agency, Dhawan said: “I will choose Suryakumar as number four because he is an experienced player and has played international cricket for a long time.”

Significantly, Sanju Samson has also batted at number four and made runs in the past, but everyone believes that when Shreyas Iyer returns to the team, he will be batting at number four. However, Iyer’s option must also be chosen in the World Cup team. In a situation like this, it all comes down to who is chosen as an alternative to Iyer in fourth place.
