White Sox call up Cueto to start against Royals

The Chicago White Sox announced that they have promoted Dominican veteran Johnny Cueto from Triple-A Charlotte and sent infielder Danny Mendick to that branch. Cueto will start Monday’s game on the mound against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

Cueto, 36, a two-time All-Star, is 0-1 with a 5.17 ERA (9 LP in 15.2 IL) and 17 strikeouts in four starts for Charlotte after signing a minor league deal with Chicago. on April 8. He will use the number 47.
