Which country has the most breweries per capita?

You could say that with its famous Oktoberfest, Germany has more. Or that with its wide variety of foams, Belgium wins. But none of them is the main country with the most beer producers per capita.

As this infographic from our partner Statista, based on data from Brewers of Europe shows, our Swiss neighbors are the masters of the brewery. There were 119 per million souls in 2019, well ahead of the runner-up nation, the Czech Republic (58 per million inhabitants) and Slovenia (50). A staggering statistic that is explained in particular by the recent development of regional breweries and microbreweries in the Confederacy, explains the Swiss Brewery Association.
