When Sandeep Reddy Vanga criticized female roles, Aamir Khan apologized and said, “I have done such films, I am ashamed…”

The film Animal directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga was released in theaters on December 1, 2023. The film achieved record box office receipts, but also had to deal with great resistance from audiences. The film has been described as having toxic masculinity and misogyny. Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Kiran Rao had also expressed her support in this regard.

On Kiran Rao’s opinion, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had said that he should criticize Aamir Khan’s films before Animal. Vanga had also given the example of the song ‘Khambhe Jaisi Khadi Hai’ from Aamir Khan’s film ‘Dil’. Now Aamir Khan has apologized for such films and dialogues.

Talking to Aaj Tak, Aamir Khan said, “Hindi films have not been that responsible, especially in the way we present men and women.” When we show something wrong in films, we also show that the result is positive . This is wrong because in films we often turn women into “objects”.

Aamir Khan further said, “Even the songs are like ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast-Mast’ and even I am involved in it and have done such films.” “Stands like a pillar, is it a girl or a stick.” We call Women are “pillars”, not people. This is very embarrassing for me.

Aamir further says that many societies in the world are patriarchal. India is one of them and the way we objectify women in our films is what I said in my show Satyamev Jayate. I sang a song “Khambe Jaisi Khadi Hai”. In every sentence women were portrayed as something. So it’s terrible that we do this.
