WhatsApp is testing a new feature that lets users control how their chat history is shared. This “enhanced chat privacy” setting will stop others from exporting your chat logs or saving media from the conversation automatically.
This new option is found in both one-on-one and group chats. It’s a simple on/off switch. When turned on, the people you’re chatting with can’t save or export the conversation history outside of the app. They also can’t auto-save images or videos. However, it’s unclear if they can still manually save them.
In group chats, when this feature is enabled, all members get a notification. Interestingly, turning this on also disables Meta AI.
It’s worth noting that this setting doesn’t completely block information sharing. Users can still forward messages to others or take screenshots. So, while it restricts data sharing, it’s not a 100% block.
