WhatsApp Introduces Three Exciting New Features for Users
WhatsApp is constantly evolving and introducing new features to enhance the user experience. In recent weeks and months, the messaging app has been testing several exciting new features, some of which are already available to users without the need for a beta version.
New Event Feature for Group Chats
WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to create events directly in group chats. This feature is available in version 24.13.72 for iOS and version 2.24.14.9 for Android. Users can set a date and location for an event and add a description, making it easy to plan joint activities such as parties or video calls. Every participant in a group can be invited to the event.
Enter Email Address for Verification
From now on, users can add an email address to WhatsApp in addition to their phone number. This allows for easy verification when logging in on a new device, as users will receive a verification code via email instead of SMS. The email address can also be used for 2-factor authentication if a user forgets their PIN.
Search Chats by Date
WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to search chats by a specific date. This feature has been tested in various beta versions and is now available to all users. To access this feature, users can go to the three-dot menu (for Android) or the contact name (on iOS) in a chat and select the "Search" option. A calendar icon with a magnifying glass will appear, allowing users to select the desired date and jump to that day to view the chat history.
Beta Testers Get Even More
Beta testers of WhatsApp will receive even more new features before anyone else. The company is currently testing a simplified transfer of chats that runs without a backup function.
