WhatsApp implements the most requested novelty by all users

The WhatsApp instant messaging platform has undergone a significant evolution in recent months with the incorporation of numerous new features. In the most recent case, the possibility of associating a second smartphone with the same WhatsApp account was made available.

As the WABEtainfo publication reports, this long-awaited feature is present in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. It will no doubt be only a matter of time before iOS is also considered.

WhatsApp finally allows you to have two smartphones linked to the same account

This news follows the implementation of the companion mode in WhatsApp last November. Now, however, it is available to all users present in the Android beta channel of this application owned by the Meta group.

In short, this new possibility allows a user to use the same WhatsApp account on two devices. All communications can now be accessed on the secondary device even if the primary does not have an active internet connection.

It is important to underline that it is only possible to associate a second device if it is Android. That is, if your primary smartphone is an iPhone, you can add a second Android smartphone or tablet to your account.

To make this possible, you just have to follow these steps:

  1. Download the latest beta version of WhatsApp on an Android device
  2. Open the menu in the upper right corner and choose the option “Associate a device”
  3. Open the WhatsApp menu on the main smartphone and choose the option “Paired devices”
  4. Scan the QR code displayed on the secondary device and wait for all data to sync

After this process, you will notice that all your chat history will also be available on your second Android device. From this moment on, everything will be ready so that you don’t have to stay with just one smartphone.

It should be noted that some features are not yet fully functional with this method. In fact, it will not be possible to manage broadcast lists or updates to your status from the secondary device.

All messages will remain end-to-end encrypted even with two devices associated with the same account. In fact, you can be sure that your privacy will not be diminished with this desired functionality.

Now it remains for users with two iOS devices to wait for this novelty to also be available on Apple’s operating system. It will also be a matter of time before this function reaches the stable WhatsApp channel.
