This is especially true for bigger groups, where a large number of WhatsApp messages, about 57.5%, are already shared. The main goal is simple: no more needing to tag each person one by one. This way, you can be sure everyone sees important news.
This feature is currently being tested. Both group administrators and regular members can use it. This wide access means that any participant can, in theory, alert the entire group about something urgent.
Another WhatsApp Update on the Horizon
