Virat Kohli showed a glimpse of his old form with a brilliant half-century in the second T20 International against the West Indies on Friday and the former India captain said he was happy with his intention to play the shot. Kohli played a 52-run inning on 41 balls that included seven fours and one six. He couldn’t walk in the last four games.

Kohli told Star Sports: “I decided to stay positive but then we lost some wickets (Rohit Sharma, Surya Kumar Yadav). I wanted to stay in the crease but unfortunately I got out.

“I was happy with my intentions that I want to play the shot. There are times when you want to play responsibly and ask yourself if you want to play big shots early in the innings. You didn’t want to be sloppy, but you also wanted to play your shots. Try to get that balance.

Apart from Virat, batsman Rishabh Pant also played half a century in this match. Due to the strong play of these two batsmen, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series after recording a thrilling 8-run victory in the last over.

In the match, the Indian team got a chance to bat first after losing the toss. The India team, batting first, scored 186 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs, in response to which the West Indies team could only score 178 runs in 20 overs losing 3 wickets.
