MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia has said in a statement that it hopes the United States will not implement democracy in any country in the future.
According to details, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has expressed hope that Western leaders will keep their promises and will not make new efforts to spread democracy in other states.
Lavrov called the attempt to introduce a Western system in Afghanistan “the biggest mistake.” He said that this is a country where traditionally no single center has ever been established.
In his address to students and lecturers at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), the Russian Foreign Minister said: “I believe that the policy of any state reflects its traditions and customs There should be comfort for the people who live there and breed there.
Sergei Lavrov said Western countries have promised to restrain themselves from implementing democracies in other countries.
He said US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron had said in practice that they would no longer impose democracy on any other country, but it remains to be seen how these promises will be fulfilled.
“I hope that the promises made by the West not to impose democracy on any other country will be fulfilled,” he said.
