Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has expressed strong confidence that his old club is poised to win the English Premier League title this season, citing significant improvements in squad depth.
Wenger stated unequivocally that he believes an Arsenal championship is possible, adding, “You can accuse me of saying this every year, but the truth is that this time I feel the team is prepared to fight against any problem.”
He commended current manager Mikel Arteta’s leadership and expressed optimism about the team’s resilience.
The former manager highlighted the challenges faced by Arsenal in past seasons due to player absences. He noted that when key players, such as Bukayo Saka, were unavailable, the team encountered significant difficulties.
Wenger now sees the current squad as possessing enhanced depth, allowing them to better navigate such issues.
He specifically pointed to the presence of quality players in attacking roles and defense, mentioning current Arsenal forwards Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
The veteran coach also cited the club’s youth pipeline, referencing talents like Lewis-Skelly, an English international who is not yet a regular first-team player, as evidence of the club’s overall talent pool.
Arsenal last clinched the English title in the 2003-04 season, during Wenger’s own tenure as manager.
