Alejandro Pozo is the latest addition to Rubi’s team. The footballer from Huévar del Aljarafe has waited until the last minute in case a good offer from a First Division arrives and has finally opted for the ambitious project of Almería. The Sevillian lands in the Indálica entity as a loan officer, Although the people of Almeria keep a purchase option, as has happened in all assignments since the sheik landed with the exception of Cuenca. Despite Nieto and Buñuel being on the right-hand side, Pozo aims to be the starter for that position despite his versatility.
The 22-year-old from Herva also works as both a right-handed winger and a left-winger, even as a playmaker. With a contract in Nervión until 2023, the two clubs have opted for a loan, as Sevilla did not want to part with him either. Not surprisingly, his projection stands out, debuting last June with the senior team. After playing with the U-16, U-18 and U-21, he played with the senior team in the friendly before the Eurocup against Lithuania, entering the second act for Óscar Gil. It even sounded to replace Busquets in the tournament by the positive of the Barcelona midfielder.
Pozo was formed in the quarry of Sevilla, debuting in September 2019 with the first team in Agdam in a Europa League group stage match against Qarabag (0-3); in fact, that season he won the European title. The previous season he was on loan to Granada, with which he managed to ascend to the First Division, being also on loan in the second half of the year 19-20 in Mallorca and last year in Éibar.
Despite his youth, he has already played 52 games in the top flight (40 of them as a starter), 100 in Second Division (61 from the start) and six from Europa League (all as holder). His new team presents him as a “very competitive, fast, hard-working and aggressive footballer.”
