Weights assumes the challenge of obtaining better results in the Olympic cycle

En route to taking part in three stages this year, the top selected weightlifter is aware of the responsibility he must assume in order to reap the usual challenge and leave with a high note in the Olympic cycle.

In the first instance are the Central American and Caribbean Games that will be held between June 23 and July 8 of this year in San Salvador.

The Pan American Games, to take place from October 20 to November 5, is the second challenge for the Dominican weightlifters, as well as the qualifiers for the Paris-France 2024 Olympics.

“It will be a strong year, but we are working to come out with the best results”, commented Héctor Domínguez, weight trainer.

The meeting with the weightlifters was part of the visit program carried out by the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) through its technical direction, to learn about the training program and interact with the athletes classified for the Central American and Caribbean Games El Salvador 2023.

“We have observed the training area and where our athletes prepare. We take into account what they require to condition them”, said José Miguel Robiou, head of Mission of the Quisqueyan delegation that will go to El Salvador.

The veteran Verónica Saladín, who has been recovering satisfactorily from an injury to one of her knees for two years, declared that she is in a clear recovery. “Training is going very well and we hope to meet our goals,” she added.

Meanwhile, fellow athlete Moreno Martínez stated: “We need your support in this process. The work has been carried out and we are working”.

The introductory words were given by Potter Segura, from the technical management of the COD, whose director, Juan Febles, also gave the athletes a motivational message regarding the commitments they must assume during the Olympic cycle.

The COD technical management team, in coordination with the El Salvador 2023 Mission headquarters, has held meetings with athletes in rowing and canoeing, archery, handball, gymnastics, badminton, weights, and wrestling.
