The World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit, also known as WAVES Summit 2025, kicked off in Mumbai on May 1, 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the four-day event, which brought together industry giants from across the globe. The first day saw a gathering of big names from the entertainment industry, including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Chiranjeevi, Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Mohanlal, Hema Malini, and Nagarjuna. These stars participated in discussions on various topics related to technology and cinema.
Day Two Highlights
The second day of the summit promises to be just as exciting, with several intriguing sessions lined up. The day begins with a session titled ‘Future of Studios: Putting India on the World Studio Map.’ Aamir Khan, Namit Malhotra, Dinesh Vijan, Ajay Bhalla, Charles Roven, and Ritesh Sidhwani will be speaking at this session, which will be moderated by Mayank Shekhar. The next session is ‘India’s Innovation Renaissance,’ featuring Kiran Mazumdar Shaw as a speaker, with Manish Ahuja moderating the discussion.
Celebrity Lineup
- Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Vijay Deverakonda will be discussing ‘Cinema: The Soft Power’ in a session moderated by Karan Johar.
- Nita Ambani will be speaking on ‘Taking Indian Culture Global.’
Remaining Schedule
The third and fourth days of the summit, i.e., May 3 and 4, will feature more thought-provoking discussions. Some of the topics include:
- ‘Live, Immersive, and Digital Experiences: How Sports Leagues are Driving Innovation,’ with Manoj Badale, Veta Dani, Matthew Hayden, and Monish Shah as speakers, moderated by Jatin Sapru.
- A masterclass on VFX by Vince Gerardis.
- Aamir Khan will also be conducting a solo masterclass on ‘Reinventing Indian Cinema.’
- A panel discussion on ‘The Future of Entertainment: OTT Revolutionizing Storytelling, Tech Innovations, and Viewer Experiences,’ featuring Nikhil Advani, Vikramaditya Motwani, and Sudeep Sharma.
