watchOS 9.4 prevents you from mistakenly silencing your Apple Watch alarm

Apple today released watchOS 9.4, which includes a change that will prevent Apple Watch users from accidentally turning off their alarm while sleeping.

According to Apple’s release notes for the software update, “Wake-up alarm is not muted when performing hide-to-silence gesture to avoid inadvertently canceling it while sleeping.”

This means that if your palm covers the screen of your Apple Watch for three seconds while you sleep, the alarm will no longer be inadvertently muted. If you’ve ever lost your Apple Watch alarm, it might have been for this reason.
