Rishabh Pant has made great achievements in all three formats of cricket in a very short time. He has earned a spot as a regular for Team India in all three formats. At present, no one seems to be taking this place away from them. However, former cricketer Wasim Jaffer believes that Rishabh is not doing as well in T20 as he is in Test and ODI cricket. Wasim Jaffer also does not consider Rishabh’s place in T20 cricket to be a guarantee.
Speaking to Cricinfo, Jaffer says: ‘Rishabh still needs to get a good score in T20. He has not been able to do this in IPL. He hasn’t played well in many T20 matches. The way he is playing Test Cricket, the way he has played some innings in ODIs, that has not been shown in T20. So I can’t say his place in T20 cricket is final.
Jaffer says: ‘Team India has KL Rahul. Every time he comes back, he directly joins the team. He is also a goalkeeper. Dinesh Karthik is also the goalkeeper and his game seems to be fixed. So from the way Rishabh Pant has played T20 cricket recently, he would not be sure of his place.
Rishabh Pant has so far scored 40 runs in three matches in the five-game T20 series against South Africa. In the last two games he couldn’t even touch double digits. At IPL 2022 he had also missed with the bat. He could not mark even a single half century.
