Was Team India out of the running for the World Test Championship final? Learn the complete equation

The Indian team has suffered a double whammy after losing the three-match test series 1-2 against South Africa. India’s dream of winning the test series in South Africa has been shattered, and they have dropped to fifth place in the ICC Test Championship points table. At the same time, it is also said that the Indian team is now out of the race for the World Test Championship final.

The Indian team is at number five in the latest World Test Championship points table. It is also behind Pakistan. Sri Lanka is at number one, Australia is second and Pakistan is at number three. At the same time, the South African team has now reached number four.

After this, the Indian team has to play two Tests against Sri Lanka and the only Test against England. Now if any of these Tests are tied or Team India loses, they will be out of the race for the World Test Championship final.

On the other hand, even if India makes a clean sweep in the two-match test series against Sri Lanka, then the winning percentage will be lower. At the same time, India will play the only Test against England at home. In such a situation, it will not be easy for India to defeat England at home.

According to ICC rules in the second cycle of the World Test Championship, the winning team gets 12 points for winning a match. At the same time, if the match is tied, both teams get four points each. Also, the losing team does not get any points. Other than this, if the match is tied, both teams get six points each. At the same time, the ranking of the points table is decided based on the percentage of points obtained by a team in each match.
