War in Ukraine: the international community strongly condemns the Russian military operation

A unanimous condemnation. The announcement by Russian President Vladimir Putin of a “military operation” in Ukraine, Thursday, February 24, followed by explosions in several Ukrainian cities, aroused many reactions in the world.

“This is a war of aggression. Ukraine will fight back and win. The world can and must stop Putin. Now is the time to act.”Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba wrote on Twitter. In an address to the nation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky then declared martial law across the country. “Do not panic”, “we will win”he said.

“The world will demand accountability”

US President Joe Biden has denounced “unwarranted attack” of Russia against Ukraine. “Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will cause”he insisted, assuring that “the world will demand accountability from Russia”.

“President Putin, in the name of humanity, bring your troops back to Russia!” also launched UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. “We strongly condemn Russia’s unjustified attack on Ukraine”assured the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

“France strongly condemns Russia’s decision to wage war on Ukraine. Russia must immediately put an end to its military operations”demanded Emmanuel Macron, assuring that “France stands in solidarity with Ukraine”.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the Russian military operation a “brilliant violation of international law”speaking of a “dark day” for the whole of Europe. Vladimir Poutine “chosen the path of bloodshed and destruction in launching this unprovoked attack”said British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
