The strike hit the entrance of a nine-story residential building. At least five people were killed and 27 injured after the Russian army hit a residential building in Dnipro, eastern Ukraine, on Saturday January 14, according to a report released by local authorities. “There are already five dead, 27 people have been injured and hospitalized, including six children”, said on Telegram the governor of the region, Valentin Reznitchenko, accompanying his message with a photo of the building, reduced to a heap of debris.

“Moscow proves that its cynicism knows no bounds”, declared for his part the presidential adviser Mikhaïlo Podoliak. Russia “must be expelled from the UN Security Council now”he said again.

Massive power outages

Power cuts were ordered in most parts of Ukraine after this new wave of Russian strikes. “Today the enemy again attacked the country’s power generation facilities. There are attacks in the Kharkiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhia, Vinnytsia and kyiv regions. Due to the shelling, emergency cuts have been decided in most regions”, announced in the early evening the Ukrainian Minister of Energy, German Galouchchenko.

The operator Ukrenergo, for its part, said it was working to “eliminate the consequences” of this “twelfth massive missile attack on the energy sector in Ukraine”.

In total, “the enemy carried out three airstrikes and about fifty missile launches during the day”said the staff of the Ukrainian army. “In addition, the occupiers launched 50 attacks with multiple rocket launchers.”
