1:27 p.m .: The President of the Ukrainian Parliament meets refugees in the Yvelines

No longer being moved and learning French: Ukrainian refugees, housed in Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines), expressed their needs on Wednesday to better integrate, during a visit by the President of the Ukrainian Parliament Rouslan Stefantchouk. More than a hundred refugees, having fled since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, live in the center located about thirty kilometers southwest of Paris. On Wednesday, about forty of them took part in a time of exchanges with Rouslan Stefantchouk and the president of the French National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet.

Ukrainian women follow one another at the microphone, grateful “to the French” for having welcomed them to their homes, then to this centre, but who are worried about being “displaced” again, after “the trauma” and the “stressful situations” of exile. “The question of reorientations is a great difficulty for us on a daily basis”, replies Joseph Zimet, prefect in charge of the crisis unit for the reception of displaced Ukrainians. “Our battle since the fall is to allow you to rest at least until June” to guarantee a stable school year for children.
