War in Ukraine: Finland announces that it will “significantly” limit the entry of Russian nationals on its soil

Finland has decided to take measures to limit “significantly” the entry of Russian nationals on its soil, the government announced on Friday 23 September. A committee bringing together the President, the Prime Minister and the regal ministers decided to “significantly restrict the entry of Russian citizens and the issuance of visas on the basis of a serious attack on the international position of Finland”the government said in a statement.

Since Wednesday and the partial mobilization decreed by vladimir Cheese friesthe country sees double (even if it remains at a limited number according to the Finnish border guards) the entries of Russian nationals at its land border. It must be said that the country has already divided by ten the number of tourist visas granted. The Nordic country was the EU country bordering Russia with the fewest entry restrictions for Russian citizens.
