Pakistan News: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that his country wants “lasting peace” with India through talks and that war is not an option for both the countries to resolve the Kashmir issue. Shahbaz Sharif, while addressing a group of Harvard University students, said that the resolution of the Kashmir issue under UN resolutions is linked to lasting peace in the region, ‘The News International’ newspaper reported. “Pakistan is committed to maintain peace in the region,” Prime Minister Sharif said on Friday evening.

War is not an option for any country

According to the news, Sharif said, “We want lasting peace with India through talks as war is not an option for any country.” Relations between India and Pakistan have often been tense. After India on August 5, 2019 abrogated most of the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution, abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two union territories on August 5, 2019. Relations got worse.

Competition should be done to improve the standard of living of the citizens.

India has repeatedly said that Jammu and Kashmir “was, is and always will be an integral part of India.” India says it wants normal neighborly relations with Pakistan in an environment free from terrorism, instability and violence. Interacting with the students, Sharif said that Pakistan and India should compete to improve business, economy and the standard of living of their citizens. Sharif said Pakistan is not aggressive, but its nuclear weapons and trained army are deterrence. He said that Pakistan spends on the army to protect its borders.
