After a good start to the event placing a 67 in the first round, the Englishman shot 66 to move to the top of the leaderboard (-11), putting himself in a good position towards the weekend, after beating the Americans Sam Stevens and Wyndham Clark, who appear behind, one stroke from the lead.
In third place, four players are tied at -8 (Tyler Duncan, Akshay Bathia, former event champion Brice Garnett (who dominated in the first round), and Dane Nicolai Høgaard.
