Former batting legend VVS Laxman will join the NCA (National Cricket Academy) as head of cricket on December 13, as his appointment along with other coaches was approved at the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM). At the meeting in Calcutta, it was agreed to appoint former Australian and England bowling coach Troy Cooley as the fast bowling coach of the national cricket academy together with Laxman.

A BCCI official with knowledge of the matter told PTI on condition of confidentiality: “The agreement with Laxman has already been made. His latest media responsibility is the second test between New Zealand and India. He will join the NCA in Bengaluru from December 13. He will also be in the West Indies for some time during the ICC U19 World Cup.

He said that either the NCA coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar or Sitanshu Kotak will play the role of head coach of the Indian team during the U19 World Cup.

“We have also finalized all the NCA coach appointments and the roadmap has been prepared,” he said.
