VVS Laxman, Next NCA Chief, To Take On Rahul Dravid’s Legacy
New Delhi. Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman will be the next head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA). A senior official from the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) released this information on Sunday. Laxman will replace his former teammate Rahul Dravid, who was recently appointed head coach of the Indian cricket team after the end of Ravi Shastri’s tenure.
“VVS Laxman will be the new head of the NCA,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.

Laxman has now stepped down from the mentor role of the Sunrisers Hyderabad Indian Premier League franchise and will not be part of any comment panel or write newspaper articles to avoid conflicts of interest. Laxman’s appointment is believed to take effect before the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kolkata on December 4.
Laxman had initially turned down the BCCI offer because he was unwilling to move from Hyderabad. After joining the NCA, Laxman will have to stay in Bengaluru for at least 200 days.

Laxman and Dravid, the two Indian cricket legends, will now work together as BCCI wants the India head coach and the NCA chief to have a good relationship. As part of this task, Laxman will also have to oversee the preparation of the India U-19 and India ‘A’ teams, which is how to make a place for himself on the team at the senior level.
