Volleyball World Cup: The Panthers meet Italy

The Argentine women’s volleyball team will face Italy this Friday in Rotterdam, for the third match of the second round (Group E) of the World Cup in Poland and the Netherlands. The Panthers, who They come from losing with the Netherlands by 3 to 1 and with Belgium by 3 to 0will play against the Italian national team –a world power that has the best attacker in the world, Paola Egonu– from 12.15, with transmission of ESPN and Star +.

Those directed by Hernán Ferraro will complete the second round against Puerto Rico on Sunday, at 1:30 p.m.. Italy is the leader of Group E with six wins and only one loss (2-3 against Brazil) and one of the candidates for the title.

The Argentines have already made history by passing the first round of the Women’s World Cup for the first time –in six participations– thanks to their victories over the Czech Republic (3-1) and Colombia (3-2) in the initial phase in the city of Arnhem. Group E standings, based in Rotterdam, are as follows: Italy 19 points (6 wins); Brazil 17 (6); China, Belgium and Japan 15 (5); Netherlands 12 (4); Puerto Rico 6 (2) and Argentina 5 (2).

In the city of Lodz, Poland, the table of Group F it is like this: Serbia 20 (7); Turkey 17 (6); United States 15 (5); Poland 13 (4); Canada 11 (4); Thailand 10 (4); Dominican Republic 11 (3) and Germany 10 (3).

The four best from each zone will qualify for the quarterfinals of the World Cup final.
