Volleyball World Cup: The Panthers lost to China in their debut

The Argentine women’s volleyball team, Las Panteras, lost this morning to their pair from China by 3 to 0 with partials of 23-25, 22-25 and 20-25, in the debut in the World Cup in the Netherlands-Poland.

By the first date of group D, the team led by Hernán Ferraro began with a logical defeat against the Asian teamwho is fourth in the FIVB world ranking, in the match that was played in the city of Arnhem, 90 kilometers from the Dutch capital, Amsterdam.

Erika Mercado was the top scorer for Argentina with 15 points and followed by Daniela Bulaich, with 13. Paula Nizetich and Candelaria Herrera, with 9, Bianca Farriol, with 3, and Emilce Sosa and Victoria Mayer, with 1, completed the production of the national group. The figure of the match was the Chinese Li Yingying, 1.92 meters tall, with 22 points.

The Panthers began their third World Cup participation in a row and showed a good level, despite the superiority of the Asian team. This edition will be the seventh World Cup in the history of the Argentine women’s national team, which records as best position an eighth place in Brazil 1960in a tournament played by 10 countries.
