The secret behind this advanced autonomy lies in the use of a new generation of fuel cells, featuring a ceramic membrane instead of platinum. This innovation not only reduces costs but also doubles the range of hydrogen cars, which typically struggle to exceed 1,000 km.
Furthermore, this new technology allows the car to perform better in extreme temperatures and makes it easier to moisten. This breakthrough has led Volkswagen to reconsider its stance on hydrogen, which was previously deemed not viable.
