The Atlético de Madrid is looking for a new guaranteed goalkeeper who can compete face to face with Jan Oblak and one of the names that is playing the most is that of Odysseas Vlachodimos. The Greek goalkeeper has been a wall for several seasons in the Benfica and everything seems to indicate that he would be ready for a step further in his sports career and the truth is that playing for Wanda Metropolitano would attract his attention a lot.
Vlachodimos is not a new name on Atlético’s agenda since last summer they already asked the Portuguese team about him, but they refused to sit down and negotiate his departure. In the mattress sports department they like this goalkeeper very much and they believe that he may be able to compete for the position with Oblak, the undisputed starter practically since he arrived at the Madrid team. The Greek has a market value of about 15 million euros, but Benfica would only be willing to let him go if he receives, at least, about 20 million euros, an amount that he hopes to reduce the mattress box.
Open to exchanges
Atlético de Madrid could try to include players in the operation to attract Odysseas Vlachodimos since it has many players in the squad that could be of interest to Benfica. One of the players who could lower the price of the Greek’s arrival at Atlético would be Héctor Herrera, who would also be willing to leave the Madrid team to return to the Portuguese League, a competition in which he spent his best years as a professional. Another footballer who could reach the Portuguese team as a bargaining chip would be Geoffrey Kondogbia, another player who lacks confidence from Diego Simeone.
