Vivek Agnihotri, known for his straightforward opinions, has weighed in on the hefty fees charged by Bollywood stars. In a digital commentary interview, he expressed that no one in the industry dares to criticize Ranbir Kapoor. “They don’t have the guts to speak against Ranbir,” he said. “Let them try if they have the courage.” This response came when he was asked about the criticism faced by Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the film ‘Animal,’ even though Ranbir wasn’t directly involved.
Stars’ hefty paychecks spark controversy
Vivek Agnihotri stated that every filmmaker in Bollywood badmouths stars behind their backs. He challenged the audience to name a single director or producer who doesn’t complain about these stars. “They don’t have the courage to speak out publicly, so they deserve to be paid ₹150 crore for subpar work and poor acting,” he said. He added that filmmakers have tied their fate to these stars, which is why he left the Bollywood mainstream.
The filmmaker clarified that his issue isn’t with genuine stars but with those who act like stars without achieving anything. “I’ve distanced myself from Bollywood because of this,” he said.
