Vitinha: PSG, Bayern are Europe’s Best as Giants Clash

PARIS – Reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain are set to host a formidable Bayern Munich side in a highly anticipated clash, with players and coaches from both teams claiming their club represents the pinnacle of European football.

PSG midfielder Vitinha, speaking in flawless French at a pre-match press conference at Parc des Princes, declared that “PSG and Bayern are the two best teams in Europe.”

Paris Saint-Germain, the current European champions, boast a perfect record in this season’s Champions League with three victories. However, Bayern Munich has shown a determined ambition to reclaim the continental throne, starting their 2025/26 campaign with an impressive 15 consecutive wins.

Vitinha acknowledged the German side’s run, stating, “The answer about who is the best will be given on the field. They are on a fantastic run, and we are also in a good phase. We are looking forward to it.” He also praised teammate Nuno Mendes, calling him “the best left-back in the world” and “in incredible form.”

PSG coach Luis Enrique also noted Bayern’s formidable form. He commented that “A streak of 15 wins is incredible.” Enrique’s team previously defeated Bayern 2-0 in the Club World Cup.

PSG enters the match near full strength. Defender Doué is out due to injury, and Zabarnyi is suspended. These are the only reported absences.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany offered his perspective on PSG’s strength. He highlighted the collective spirit of the Paris squad over individual star power. “What impresses me most? The team spirit, ball recovery, and individual quality,” Kompany said. “You can’t just focus on one player.”

Kompany emphasized the talent on both sides. He added, “PSG has always had world-class players, and we also have great talents. It’s going to be a great game.”
