The Counter-Strike 2 scene just got a whole lot more interesting. This past Sunday, Vitality took down MOUZ in the IEM Dallas finals. It was a best-of-five match that ended 3-0 in Vitality’s favor.
Before we dive into the details, here’s the bigger picture: this tournament was the last big test for teams before the BLAST.tv Austin Major, which kicks off on June 3. For Vitality, it was a chance to keep their winning streak alive – they’d won five tournaments in a row and 29 series without a loss.
How it went down
Vitality started strong, taking the first map, Dust2, 13-11. They kept the momentum going on Mirage, winning 13-9. The final map, Inferno, was more of the same, with Vitality taking it and the series 3-0.
The win was a big deal for Vitality. They’re now one of the most successful lineups in Counter-Strike history, with six tournament wins in a row. And it didn’t hurt that they took home $125,000 – around $715,000 in their local currency.
