The buzz around epic retellings is getting loud in the film world. Fans are already eagerly awaiting Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming “Ramayana” movie. Its first poster recently dropped, stirring up a lot of excitement. But hold your horses! Another filmmaker is stepping into the ring, ready to tell his own version of the classic tale.
Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari has announced his “Ramayana” project, planned to release in two parts. Work is currently underway on this grand vision. However, actor Vishnu Manchu recently shared that he also has a “Ramayana” script ready to go. Here’s the surprising part: his version focuses on the life of Ravana. Talk about a fresh take!
A Villain’s Story
Vishnu Manchu’s script delves into Ravana’s journey, from his birth right up to his death. It’s a complete narrative about the famed antagonist. When speaking with journalist Nayanadeep Rakshit, Manchu was asked about his dream cast for this ambitious project. He quickly named actor Suriya as his first choice for Lord Ram. For the role of Sita, Manchu picked Alia Bhatt.
He revealed that he actually reached out to Suriya about playing Ram way back in 2009. The legendary director Raghavendra Rao was set to helm the film. Manchu’s own father was slated to play Ravana. However, the budget back then didn’t quite line up. This meant the project couldn’t move forward. Manchu mentioned that the script and dialogues are still perfectly ready. Yet, he’s unsure if he’ll ever get to bring this unique vision to the big screen.

Previous Epic Ventures
Vishnu Manchu recently produced and starred in “Kannappa,” a large-scale mythological drama. The film featured big names like Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Prabhas as Rudra, and Mohanlal as Kirata. Despite the star power, “Kannappa” didn’t make much noise at the box office. It only managed to earn 41.75 crore rupees. This shows that even epic tales need a strong connection with the audience to truly succeed.
Nitesh Tiwari’s Vision
Meanwhile, Nitesh Tiwari recently gave fans a sneak peek into his “Ramayana.” Ranbir Kapoor is portraying Lord Ram, and Sai Pallavi will play the role of Devi Sita. Actor Yash is set to embody Ravana. The first part of Tiwari’s highly anticipated film is slated for release next year during the Diwali festival. With so many grand retellings on the horizon, it seems audiences are in for an epic treat.
