Virat Kohli Faces Possible Lawsuit Amidst IPL Stadium Stampede Tragedy

The streets outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium erupted into chaos the day after Royal Challengers Bangalore’s historic win in the 2025 IPL. Tragically, 11 lives were lost in the stampede. RCB has since announced it will provide 10 lakh rupees to each of the victims’ families. An FIR has been filed against the RCB franchise, among other parties. A social activist, HM Venkatesh, attempted to file a complaint against Kohli at the Kubban Park police station. Venkatesh claimed Kohli promoted gambling through the IPL and was responsible for the stampede. He demanded legal action against the cricketer.

So far, four people have been arrested in connection with the Bangalore stampede, including RCB’s senior official Nikhil Sosale and three event management staff. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) also faces an FIR. The case is so severe that KSCA Secretary A Shankar and E S Jayaram have resigned, citing moral responsibility.
