Virat Kohli just made history. He’s the first Indian player to score 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. Kohli achieved this milestone during a match where he scored 67 runs off 42 balls, including 2 sixes and 8 fours.
This wasn’t just any ordinary match for Kohli. He partnered with Devdutt Padikkal to score 91 runs, then added 48 runs with captain Rajat Patidar. Kohli now has 13,050 runs in T20 cricket. Before the match, he needed 17 runs to reach 13,000 runs. This was his 403rd T20 game, and he’s played for Delhi, the Indian cricket team, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Kohli is way ahead of other Indian players in T20 cricket. Rohit Sharma, who’s retired from international T20 cricket, is second on the list with 11,851 runs. Shikhar Dhawan, who’s also retired from IPL, is third. No other Indian batsman has even reached 10,000 runs. This means Kohli will likely hold this record for years to come.
Global Rankings
Kohli is the fifth batsman in the world to score 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. Chris Gayle tops the list with 14,562 runs. He’s the only player to have scored 14,000 runs. Alex Hales, Shoaib Malik, and Kieron Pollard follow Gayle on the list.
