There are stories that stick with you, even far from the pitch. Take Peanut. This charming, playful pitbull landed at the Humane Society of Broward County, Florida, USA, at the age of seven. Not much was known about her past. Her new caregivers only knew she came from another shelter. And she was obsessed with… stuffed animals.

The staff and volunteers at HSBC quickly noticed something special. Give Peanut a stuffed toy, and she would hold onto it for hours. She never let it go. It was as if the toy brought her comfort. From then on, they began to offer her many different toys. They delighted in the tenderness Peanut showed them, and how she offered them to anyone passing by.
Even though Peanut was extremely friendly and sociable, none of the shelter visitors seemed interested in taking her home. So, HSBC decided to publish a video on social media. This video would later go viral. It showed Peanut holding her stuffed toys. They hoped an extra dose of cuteness would encourage people to give her a chance. And it worked. Soon after, someone came into the shelter. They said they wanted to take Peanut home.
According to The Dodo portal, as Peanut prepared to leave HSBC, her caregivers wanted to make sure she took a stuffed toy for the road. “Before leaving our shelter, she picked up one last toy,” said one of the HSBC caregivers. “And she went straight to greet her new family and her brother,” they added.
This story truly warms the heart. It shows that there is a family for every furry friend.
